Getting to Cop Cot

Cop Cot is located near the southern edge of Central Park. We recommend clicking here to locate it on Google Maps.

By subway

If you plan to take the subway to Cop Cot, you'll probably want to take either the N, Q, R, or W to 57th St. Station, which is just under a half-mile walk from Cop Cot.

By car:

The closest cars can get to Cop Cot is the northern side of 59th St, where it intersects 6th Ave. This is also where the horse carriages start; if you'd like to drop any guests off, or are planning to rideshare/taxi, this is your best bet.

We strongly recommend reserving a parking space in advance; we've personally had success with BestParking. At the time of this writing, there are several garages in the immediate area with prices starting around $20.

Our Story

We have spent a lot of time on I-5 and in the Burbank and Oakland airports during our relationship.

We met while grad students at UC Irvine: both of us were six months from finishing our respective degrees, with Amber heading off to physical therapy school in Oakland and Shea taking a job in Pasadena, nearly 400 miles apart. Those six months, though, made clear that our relationship was worth the distance.

The next four years involved frequent north/south trips to see each other, east/west trips to visit family, and longer journeys taken together: road trips up the California-Oregon coast via Crater Lake and to Bryce and Zion National Parks, a drive from frozen Portland to sunny Los Angeles, tour of Coast Rica, and most recently a proposal on the shore of Italy's Amalfi Coast.

Eight months and three moves later, we finally moved in together, combining our lives (and our pets) in a small apartment in Los Angeles. A year later, our pets are grateful that we've expanded into a bigger house, and we remain thrilled that we get to come home to each other every night.

Travel & Accomodations

Hotels

Because of the small size of our wedding and the variety of ways in which one can experience NYC, we've opted not to confine our guests to a single hotel by reserving a room block.

Instead, we hope that you will find accomodations that best suit your plans, schedule, budget, and standards.

If you're interested in staying close to us, we'll be spending the night before and the night after the ceremony at Park Lane Hotel due to its proximity to Cop Cot.

Flights

We're so touched that you're considering traveling from far enough away that you'll be flying to NYC. Your three best options for airports are JFK, La Guardia, and Newark.

• LGA is the closest to Central Park at just under 8 miles, but it's also the smallest, probably the most prone to delays, and might be the most expensive.
• JFK is the next closest (17 miles away), and it's much larger and possibly cheaper to fly into, plus it's a major JetBlue hub. Taxis should have a set fare into Manhattan, which may alleviate the distance somewhat. Be aware that the walk to the taxi stand may take a little while.
• Finally, Newark Airport is only marginally further, but we can't really speak to the experience it offers since we've never flown through there. It's a major United hub if you happen to like them.
